La producción de papa en dos municipios del oriente antioqueño: análisis de las relaciones pre capitalistas y capitalistas en la agricultura

This paper analyzes the articulation of pre-capitalist and capitalist relations in potato production in the municipalities of El Carmen de Viboral and Union located in the subregion of Eastern Antioquia. Methodology: a qualitative groups case study, following the criterion of heterogeneity in sampling an instrument to apply in-depth interviews. Findings: the discovery of a heterogeneous set of semi-feudal relations in agriculture, ranging from the typical small property to the semi-servile peasant form of exploitation called “en compañía” [partnership]. Also pre capitalist forms of rent were found articulated with commodity production where capitalist profit is obtained. Finally, we discuss the link between productive relations and technical conditions in the production and distribution of potato.
