Initially (Quinet, Buisson, Jaurès), the secular education was a spiritual secular education and the republican school was a school without any religion but not without any spirituality. While differentiating the religious, the religion, the spirituality, three times can be distinguished: the times of the religion, of the post-religion, of the spirituality.
