Summary: | The aim of this study is to put forth the importance levels of the variables effective in predicting the success of
primary 5th grade students in reading comprehension skills. The study was implemented in 10 primary schools,
on 279 5th grade students. The data obtained from these students were examined by using logistic regression
analysis. As a result of the analysis, the probability of predicting students’ reading comprehension was affected
by those variables in a sound extent: sexuality, number of books owed by each student, amount of book in their
houses, summarizing tasks and reading-related homework given by teachers.
