Summary:The purpose of the work. On the example of the Chervonyi shliakh literary-scientific magazine, a selection of which is stored in the fonds of the Department of Periodicals of the V. I. Vernadskyi National Library of Ukraine, to determine the role and place of periodicals in socio-political and cultural-artistic space of Ukraine of 1920s - 1930s. Specify the composition of the editorial board of the magazine in different pe-riods of its operation, highlight the main aspects and directions activities of the editors-in-chief of the Chervonyi shliakh magazine and outline their influence on the editorial policy of the publication. The research methodology is to apply comparative, narrative, historical and sociological methods. It is their combination that allows us to reveal and analyze certain models in the activities of periodicals of the 20s and 30s years of the 20th century. The scientific noveltylies in the involvement to scientific circulation of a new source material, which allowed to establish personal composition of the editorial board of the Chervonyi shliakh magazine on different stages of its development, to determine its editorial policy, to update factors that influenced the content and composition of the magazine, to establish the value of the publication for the development of the processes of Ukrainization of 1923s-1929s. Conclusions.As it was initially planned by the Sovietauthorities, the magazine was organized to meet cultural needs of the “broad masses”, and in fact the official circles strived to aim it to meet its own political needs. And only thanks the efforts of editors and authors, whose work provided a high prestige of the magazine, it became a worthy representative of the Ukrainian national revival. The his-torical past and present of the Ukrainian people, features of political life, artistic novelties, translations, scientific discoveries, chronicles, bibliography - these are the rubricsthat affirmed the Chervonyi shliakh as an active factor in socio-political and artistic life of Ukraine.
