This genus has great ethno-medicinal importance in various indigenous systems of medicine like Indian, Chinese, Thai, Korean, Siddha, Unani and Japanese for the treatment of numerous diseases like syphilis, typhoid, cancer, jaundice, hypertension, constipation, gonorrhea, piles, urinary diseases, nervous disorders, inflammation and measles. Isolation of three new compounds from methanolic extracts of roots of plant namely 3′-stigmast-5-enyl-4′-octadecanyl protocatechuic acid (2), n-tetratriacont-24-enoic acid (3), n-tetradecanyl- glucopyranosyl–(2′→1″) glucopyranoside (5) along with known β-sitosteryl n-octadec-9′,12′-dienoate (1), n-octadec-9-enoyl- β-D-arabinopyranoside (4) and α-D-glucopyranosyl-(6→1′)-α-D-glucopyranosyl-(6′→1″)-α-D-glucopyranoside (6) have been done on the basis of spectral data analysis and chemical means.http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2314724516300358IsolationTraditional medicineExtractionCharacterization |
