Summary:The common christian exegesis of Gal 4,21-31, which combines the line Hagar - Sinai - present Jerusalem - slavery with Judaims and Sara - heavenly Jerusalem - freedom with Christianity is problematic because of its anti-judaistic history. A comparison w¡th other possibilities of reception of the Old-Testament-narratives Gen 16 and 21 in rabbinic Midrash, muslimic tradition and feminist-theological exegesis shows approaches to a new interpretation of Sara and Hagar.
