Summary: | The case of a 74-year-old patient, the victim of an accidental fall, with sequelae stroke under double antiplatelet medication (Clopidogrel, Aspirin) is presented. Examination of the abdominopelvic CT with an intravenous contrast agent reveals an AAST-OIS grade III splenic rupture with active bleeding and significant hemoperitoneum. Diagnostic angiography confirms the mentioned diagnosis by practicing proximal angioembolization with favorable results. The indications and variants of splenic angioembolization and the role of this procedure in the nonoperative treatment of contusive splenic traumas in the conditions of antiplatelet therapy are discussed. |
