Summary:Due to the wide, focal and massive spread of brucellosis in the arid steppe regions of southern Russia, and affected with this disease neighboring areas and countries, its severe economic consequences for the beef and dairy cattle, comprising – widespread abortions in pregnant animals, for a long period of postpartum diseases in adult animals with their inability to fruitful insemination, death of newly born calves and the infection of large areas of terrain the causative agent of brucellosis, has forced the staff of the Kalmyk state University to conduct the necessary fundamental research aimed at the successful and complete elimination of brucellosis, as the underlying disease
