Summary:Since the mid 1990s, a new leisure class has emerged in Chinese cities. With more and more income, Chinese resident access to tourism and it is assumed in this paper that leisure is essential in contemporary Chinese society’s understanding. A recreational turn is in action in China: there is a before and an after the development of Chinese domestic tourism. The growth of Chinese tourism constitutes one of the most spectacular aspects of China’s emergence. Tourism is therefore a relevant observatory for the concept of emergence. This is what claims this article, from the analysis of Chine domestic tourism and its spatial issues.
