| Summary: | The tourism industry is one of the key sectors for economic growth. In the context of expansion and development of the tourism sector worldwide, assessment of its sustainability in the regions or countries becomes an important goal of strategic planning, main tool for maintaining a balance between current and future prospects for their development, especially in the areas with a tourism-based economy. Sustainable tourism can maintain the balance between economic development and environmental protection. The article aims to analyze the main economic dimensions of sustainable tourism in Bulgaria and to highlight opportunities for its development. The analyzed data of the selected indicators for the evaluation of sustainable development of Bulgarian tourism demonstrated quite stable development.
