Summary:This article focuses on Cormac McCarthy’s religious viewpoint in The Road (2006) and highlights the biblical metaphors and images that bring about a new vision of the apocalypse. Finding God in a godless world lies at the core of McCarthy’s project. Through the motif of the ashes, this essay studies McCarthy’s theological aspiration and the emergence of a new eschatological liturgy thanks to a reinvented Holy Trinity.
