Summary:The work presented here is intended to identify the mobile digital devices which Spanish university students rely on, as well as analyze the skills they deem necessary for their use in today’s society. The part of the investigation addressed here fits the qualitative approach, from the reports of students who attended Social Education Degree at the University of Vigo. As conclusions is to highlight the everyday use that students take the laptop and the mobile phone in the academic, personal and social context. In and attenuated form they use the digital camera, game consoles, e-books, smartphones and tablets. To benefit from these devices and to successfully meet the challenges of the knowledge society they consider it necessary to mainly develop the competence to solve problems, search for information, communication, personal autonomy and sharing.
