Description
Summary:
Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is an indispensable source of information for the diagnosis and progress of numerous neurological diseases. Reibergrams are diagrams in which the functionality of the blood-CSF barrier and the intrathecal synthesis of immunoglobulins are basically analyzed in an integrated way. A bibliographic review was carried out using the resources available in the Infomed network, with the objective of characterizing the use of the reibergram in neuroimmunology research in Cuba, including reibergram for the evaluation of C3c intrathecal synthesis, Mannose-binding lectin (MBL), immunoglobulin (Ig) E, IgG3 and the representation of the neuroimmunological response in Dengue virus infection. The study demonstrates the usefulness of reibergrams to detect the intrathecal synthesis of some substances and to find typical patterns of certain diseases, as well as to facilitate a more adequate management of patients with certain diseases that affect the nervous system.
