In the polymer, inversion-related MnII ions are bridged by the bis-chelating 2,2′-bipyrimidine (bpym) ligands, thereby forming a chain structure along the c-axis direction, and are six-coordinated in a distorted cis-N4Br2 octahedral environment by four N atoms of twofold-related bpym ligands and twofold-related bromide anions.
