Description
Summary:Modern wireless computer networks offer a higher-speed data transmission in the physical layer and usе highly efficient protocols in the Medium Access Control layer. In the A-AFR mechanism, multiple packets are fragmented and then aggregated into a larger frame to be sent, but if errors occur during the transmission, only the corrupted fragments of the frame will be retransmitted. The aim of this paper is to propose an adaptive mechanism for aggregation with fragments retransmission, to create an appropriate simulator, and to examine performance of this aggregation mechanism, taking into account characteristics of the applications and the traffic in the backbone Internet network. The performance of this mechanism for aggregation is examined through simulations which have been developed within GPSS model. The results confirm the correctness of the proposed approach in developing the A-AFR mechanism.
