Description
Summary:The tomb of Sennefer, located on the west bank of the Nile, opposite to Luxor, on the hill of Sheikh Abd el-Qurna, belongs to an endangered heritage complex. The exceptional state of conservation of the paintings and its original iconography make this tomb famous : it is also known as the "Tomb of the Vineyards". However, opening the burial chamber to visitors causes damages. Closing down the tomb and replacing it by a facsimile could be conceivable. The burial chamber of Sennefer is, for that matter, one of the only Theban monuments to have been reproduced with full-size facsimiles, currently displayed at the musée de Tessé in Le Mans (France) and at the Roemer-und-Pelizaeus Museum, in Hildesheim (Germany).
