Summary: | This dossier was conceived in the context of unprecedented crisis experienced by the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). It has been becoming alarming since at least 2015. The acute crisis situation includes not only systematic delays in the payments of outsourced workers, servers, scholarship holders, quota students. But also the lack of funding for the basic operation of the university. We believe that proposing a reflection on the concept of "crisis" represents not only a form of resistance to the unfortunate current moment of the university. But above all, an opening is a provocation to reflection. The UERJ crisis then gains a sense of metonymy or a more extreme example of the current dilemmas of the public university in Brazil. The crisis of the public university is articulated with a crisis scenario in the humanities. |
