Untuk mengetahui tingkat kelolosan ikan muda (juvenil)/ukuran kecil melalui square mesh window menggunakan metode cover cod end. Penelitian dilakukan di Brondong, Lamongan Jawa Timur di 39 stasiun penangkapan. Selama penelitian, Rata-rata laju tangkap cantrang yang dilengkapi dengan perangkat square mesh window  2 inci, 3 inci dan 4 inci masing-masing  berkisar 54,03 - 101,34 kg/tarikan, 36,84 - 72,34 kg/tarikan dan 46,51 - 99,98 kg/tarikan dari subtotal tangkapan. Tingkat pelolosan cantrang yang dilengkapi square mesh window 2 inci, 3 inci dan 4 inci masing-masing berkisar antara 4,13 - 9,06% ,7,66 - 10,47% dan 14,94 - 39,80%. Perangkat square mesh window berukuran 3 inci (7, 62 cm) dan 4 inci (10,16 cm) efektif dalam meloloskan ikan-ikan berukuran kecil. The study of Danish seine selectivity was conducted by installing the square mesh window on the cod end. Experimental fishing operation on the sea was conducted to design of danish seine for increasing its selectivity. The rate escapement of fish juvenile through the square mesh window was determined by using cover cod end method. The study was done in 39 stations of Fishing trials at Brondong, Lamongan, East Java. During this study, catch rate of the square mesh window 2 inch, 3 inch and 4 inch ranged between 54.03 - 101.34kg/hauling, 36.84 - 72.34 kg/hauling and 46.51 - 99.98 kg/hauling, respectively. Escapement rate of danish seine with square mesh window 2 inch,3 inch and 4 inch, were between 4.13 -9.06%, 7.66-10.47% and 14,94-39.80%, respectively.
