In order to understand the challenges faced by municipal governments in implementing the PNRS, interviews were conducted with eight mayors of the Paraiba Curimataú Region and two technicians from the Brazilian Institute of Environment. After analyzing the speeches, it was found that none of the municipality implemented the required landfill. Despite knowing about the Law 12.305, they pointed out the need to prioritize other claims and argued that the population should also be aware of the problem.
