The concept of energy security in Belarus utilizes a modified “A-framework” approach and encourages the development of renewable energy but does not view this type of energy alone as being sufficient to guarantee energy security, at least in the short-term. Thus, nuclear power has been chosen as the primary solution to the energy security dilemma in Belarus, despite controversy because of the heritage of Chernobyl.
