Summary:The article is devoted to the puppet motive in the novel by D. Rubin «Punch’s Syndrome». The author analyzes the forms and methods of representation of this motive on different levels of the novel: conceptual, compositional, narrative, figurative; the author reveals a link of motive with motives of duality, the lost childhood, of rebellion. The underlying artistic concept actually metaphorical model is analyzed like «Life is a puppet theater». Typology of images of dolls and puppeteers presented in the novel is characterized. Analysis, which has been done, determines the motive of the puppet as a figurative meaning of the core of the novel, which reflects the originality of the author's concept.
