Through literature, documental and content review, it seeks to infer that: the Brazilian leading role in the case of mediating with Iran reflects both, rooted and typical patterns of Brazilian diplomacy (“accumulated history” for Amado Cervo, 2008), and the new factors, characterized in Lula’s and Celso Amorim’s own assertive external policy.
