The democratization process developed in most of the European countries makes the political speech the most popular form of political “attack”. The task of the effective political speech is to persuade. The elements that con-tribute to the process of persuasion are not obviously expressed in the text, that is why we have to accept that a complete study of a political speech must include elements of the psychology, sociology and not only. Studying the political speeches shows that there is a number of words which are used the most: justice, efficiency, perspective, order, solution, unemployment and in some countries – salary. The chosen words determine the success and the effect of the speech. The proper nouns can provide connotations which allow the hidden critics: e.g. Iraq will be a second Vietnam for G. W. Bush. This is direct critic of the war in Iraq by making a parallel with the Vietnam War, the most unsuccessful war in the history of American strategy. The name “Mussolini” means more than a historical personality, it means fascism, Italy, war. Lenin, name that means a lot for ones, symbolizes at the same time rising against the church, scarifying everything for “the collectivity”, totalitarianism. By using proper nouns in the political speeches it is possible to align and compare many actual problems to the past experiences. http://litere.usv.ro/anadiss/arhiva/anadiss2/4.%20Belous%20Marina.pdf
