Description
Summary:This article concerns the relocation of the Capuchin monastery in Figueras in the 2nd half of the 18th century from the location allocated to the construction of the San Fernando fort. It appears that although the new site of the monastery did not directly interfere with the new project, it was opposed by the municipal government for economic reasons. The problem was related to urban water supply. Although the Capuchins had great experience and technical skills in hydraulic works, vested interests of the Aloy family came into play. At that time the Aloy family were decision makers in the town and wanted to monopolize such investments.
