Each of the 894 teachers rated their own leader. In the study is also evaluated the typology of emotions of each leader according to age, years of experience in leadership roles and number of other previously held positions. To conclude, the study intends to inquire whether, besides the typology of emotions, the gender and the school location influences the leader’s management skills in a school environment. The leaders’ emotions were measured based on the Trait Meta-Mood Scale (TMMS-24). The leadership was evaluated by the led teachers through the filling of a Management Skills Questionnaire. The results clearly show that most of the leaders reveal clarity and proper emotional repair. The school leaders in urban areas pay more attention to emotions and believe that have more ability to fix them. The urban school leaders are seen by their teachers’ team as more capable of managing the school than the ones in rural areas. Finally, the management skills vary according to the leader’s typology of emotions. Keywords: emotions; leadership; school; school principalhttps://rieoei.org/RIE/article/view/1063
