Summary: | According to Vygotsky (2007), a suitable and organized learning provides the development and all the changes that a man may suffer during his upbringing is related to the socio-cultural aspect and are mediated by tools that which permit the interaction between the individual and the social milieu. On that account, this article provides basic information about the historic-social-cultural theory of Vygotsky, broaching concepts such as appropriation, mediation (together with instrument, signs and symbols), zone of proximal development (ZPD) and learning, which are essential for the development of the human being. Moreover, it also broaches the possibility of appropriation of new technology, such as computer and the internet, as socio-cultural instruments of learning used at schools from the perspective of Vygotsky.
