Description
Summary:The restoration in November 2004 of the equestrian statue of Henri IV located on the Pont-Neuf in Paris enabled the withdrawal of seven boxes of cedar wood, boxwood and lead or tin which contained various documents. Nearly two centuries passed between the placement of the boxes in the statue and the discoveries made in 2004. This long period in unsuitable conditions had its consequences on the conservation of the documents. The Department of conservation of the National Archives decided to restore them and preserve them as archaeological artifacts imprinted with an unusual history.
