Description
Summary:We describe a qualitative research whose purpose is to contribute to the generation of useful contexts to devise a personal life plan for ten mothers from the west hillside in the City of Cali, Colombia, using community family therapy techniques such as interviews and video-therapy and complementing them with psycho-educational workshops. The main findings describe their personal and family resources to face adverse situations: the experience upon developing skills for life in the workshops, writing their autobiography and devising the personal life plan. The participants evaluated the experience as positive. We present the scopes and limitations of the method and its implications for future research, upon presenting a culturally competent model of resilience development in a socioeconomically deprived neighborhood in Colombia, South America.
