The current state and dynamics of the main indicators of the fuel and energy complex of Ukraine for 2006-2016 has been studied. The activity of the fuel and energy complex is represented by two independent industries – power and fuel industries. Conclusions. Although Ukraine isn’t different its energy dependence from most European countries, but its excessive dependence from external monopoly sources of the fuel and energy resources supply was and is one of the main threats to energy security and national security in general. The main way to neutralize these threats is diversification.
