Summary: | The goal of research is to systematize the historical and cultural experience of the scientific researches of the transformation process of the Siberians’ folk and domestic traditions: from the ancient tribes of the Volyntsevsk-Romensk culture to the Ukrainian population of the Chernihiv-Siversky region, both having laid the basis of the Ukrainian nation and the Kyivan Rus statehood formation. Research methodology is based on heuristic method of the modern and classical scientific thought systematisation, forming the cultural approach in the overall problem research process.
Scientific novelty: for the first time the Culture Studies analyses the generalization dynamics of the Siverians’ preserved folk and domestic traditions: peculiarities of the Chernigiv-Siversky principality boundaries; local housing construction, agricultural, fishing, and apiary according to the natural landscape facilities; the ornamentation of local patterns on the found artefacts, in particular, pottery and jewellery; the Siverians’ customs and ceremonies preserved in the original local chronicles, including funeral traditions, wedding ceremonies, trade relations with the countries of the East and the West. All these folk and domestic features have rooted the national traditions of the Ukrainian nation’s culture.
Conclusions. Having analysed the historiography of the Siverians’ folk traditions in the Ukrainian culture history we may determine the East Slavic Siverians’ permanent location and residence on the territory of the Chernihiv-Siversky region as a part of the Kyevan Rus; folk and domestic traditions, appeared on the basis of the Volyntsevsk and Romensk cultures development in the Ancient and Medieval Ages. The Chernihiv-Siversky region tribes and nationalities constructed a carcass frame type of wooden half underground houses; traditionally led an agricultural lifestyle, evidenced by the artefacts preserved in museums, found by the local archaeological excavations; were engaged in various crafts, such as pottery production; beekeeping and fishing, jewellery production; had their specific funeral customs such as cremation and a grave mound, nowadays identifying the Siverian tribes as a part of the Ukrainian nation. |
