Summary: | New Museology was a part of museology responsible for enhancing the social function of museums as tools for the development of communities and social transformation. In the present article, this field of knowledge is presented as the working methodology for a territorial space and a concrete community. The paper reflects on the work done in a local municipality, Rivas Vaciamadrid (Madrid, Spain) and citizen voluntarism, channeled through the association, for the recovery and enhancement of the vestiges of the Battle of Jarama during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). This endeavor aimed at building a memory environment able to generate synergies for cultural, social and economic development.
