Description
Summary:Relations between sects are primarily based on perceptions. These perceptions can be either compliance with the phenomenon or irrelevant. Thus, one of the main purposes of the History of the İslamic Sects is to ensure that the perception about the sects must be based on the right information. However, there are very serious perception problems related to sects in some classical sources of history of sects. At the beginning of this, there are problems caused by process neglect. Process neglect is the name of the approach of not considering the changes in the ideas of the sects and even the developments and reaching a general judgment about them through historical views. When we look at the Ash’arite heresiographers’ perception of Imāmiyya, we can see some examples of this. For example, according to Isferāyinī, all the Imāmite sects believe that Qur’an is distorted. However, this perception is largely wrong. Because only some Imāmite scholars have this idea. Isferāyinī has openly generalized an individual and historical opinion. In addition, there are very serious problems of perception on the issues of denial of sharī‘ah, anthropomorphic concept of God and attributes of Allah. In this article we will focus on these and similar problems and try to analyze their historical and religious background.
