Determination of deformation behaviour of the cultivator narrow shares manufactured by the different firms under various loading conditions by means of finite element analysis

In this study, the stresses and deformations (displacements) of the cultivator narrow shares manufactured by different firms (A, B, C, and D) applied under 6 different loads were investigated using the SolidWorks Simulation Finite Element Code with the finite element method (SEM). The six different...

The six different static loading scenarios and forces (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, and S6; S1=500 N, S2=1000 N, S3=1500 N, S4=2000 N, S5=2500 N, S6=3000 N) were applied to the cutter blade of cultivator shares, respectively. According to the results of this study, the maximum equivalent stress and the deformations (displacements) occurring on cultivator narrow shares under S6 loading force varied from 145.948 to 242.729 MPa and from 0.539 to 0.889 mm, respectively. For the minimum load scenario (500 N), there are higher and lower equivalent stress values at B narrow share (49.006 MPa) and C narrow share (36.742 MPa) than the other narrow shares, respectively. For maximum load scenario (3000 MPa), the higher and lower equivalent stress values were found in B narrow share (242.729 MPa) and A narrow share (145.948 MPa), respectively than the other narrow shares. In terms of deformation (displacement), for the minimum load scenario (500 N), there are higher and lower deformation values in B narrow share (0.146 mm) and C narrow share (0.086 mm) ) than the other narrow shares, respectively, while for the maximum load scenario (3000 N), there are higher and lower deformation values were found in B narrow share (0.889 mm) and C narrow share (0.539 mm), respectively, than the other narrow shares. Equivalent stress values in the range of 145.948-242.729 MPa for A, B, C, D narrow shares were found to be lower than the yield stress values of 460.0-591.4 MPa. No plastic deformation damage was observed for the narrow shares under defined loading scenarios.Tillage toolsComputer aided design/engineeringFinite element analysisStress analysis deformation
