Summary: | This article reviews notion of “work history” and tracks its correlation with such terms as “professional life” and “life journey”. In the global research practice, the notion of “career” is more commonly used. However, we believe that “work history” also has a right to exist. It is more relevant when it comes to studying other aspects of individuals’ working activities. Modern studies describe career as an individual sequence of events related to work experience and other types of activities during a person’s life. The biographical approach is based on an opinion that the previous experience, motivations, family traditions and practices, sociocultural and economic backdrops of the person’s family biography define his/her current and future professional needs.
