The CTE's own electricity consumption depends on many factors (fuel type, initial steam pressure, type of turbogenerators and their power, how to drive power pumps, etc.) and is between 5 and 10% of the total production of electricity. After 1989, the electricity production of the power plant decreased considerably (over 40%), amid the drastic drop in industrial consumption.
