Summary: | This study aimed to identify the concepts of environmental issues and health promotion through the statements of 109 students of basic education, rural residents who participated in educational workshops activities of the extension project "Collective construction for promoting health and for environment and life quality improvement". Through qualitative analysis (FLICK, 2004) it can be seen that the dynamics provided greater involvement and active participation of students with the process of teaching and learning, enabling practical implementation of the knowledge built in their daily lives. It is concluded that students, farmers’s children, have the same academic aspirations of young people in urban centers, however, these young people have an attachment to the countryside and if they receive the proper stimulus to a future academic path which aims a professional performance in rural areas, would encourage the reduction of the rural exodus rate.
