This article intends to discuss these labor transformations, based on the narratives of the professional artisan fishermen and fisherwoman working around the Laguna dos Patos, in Pelotas, RS, Brazil’s southernmost region. Their practices have suffered significant changes be it due to the scarcity of fish related to, among other factors, climate change and the environmental pollution, or due to the new techniques for fishery in the Lagoon, mainly by the huge fish industry ships that count with sophisticated exploratory technology.
