In the research, exploratory sequential design, which is mixed-method research, was used. The participants who attend the quantitative part of the study are 172 people consisting of 86 students and 86 parents of Necip Fazıl Kısakürek Secondary School in the Balıkesir city center. In this research, the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking-Verbal to determine students' creativity scores; Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale to measure the perfectionism scores of parents were used. Also, a semi-structured interview form prepared by researchers was used to reveal how students perceive their creativity and fathers' perfectionism. Interviews were conducted with four students selected by the maximum diversity sampling method. In the analysis of quantitative data, the Spearman-Brown rank difference correlation coefficient was computed by using the SPSS 22 program. While analyzing qualitative data, semi-structured interviews were analyzed through descriptive analysis. Themes and codes were created taking into account the dimensions of creativity and socially prescribed perfectionism. It was observed that there was a significant medium-sized relationship in the negative direction relationship between fathers' socially perfectionism and creativity scores (fluency, flexibility, originality, creativity total) of the students in the 5th and 6th grades. Qualitative findings obtained in the study support the quantitative findings. It can be suggested that parents have a perfectionist attitude towards supporting and that they should take a supportive attitude considering the child's interests and abilities instead of determining high criteria.https://dergipark.org.tr/en/pub/ueader/issue/59308/778867?publisher=http-egitim-kilis-edu-tr-cv-durmu-c5-9e-burak-pdfyaratıcılık,mükemmeliyetçilik,anne-baba tutumu, ortaokul öğrencilericreativityperfectionismparental attitudemiddle school students
