| Summary: | The article refers to the situation of relative backwardness of the economies of the Caribbean area, based on the changes introduced by the development of the digital economy, which has deepened the heterogeneity of productive structures at a global level, widening the gap in the technological frontier of developing countries. The process leads to a deepening in the productivity of the small economies of the Caribbean, whose heterogeneous sectoral structure and low level of savings limit the ability to create labor demand over the destruction of jobs that implies change. |
