Based on the conceptual framework of poverty and city, it attempts to clarify the nature, causes, and consequences of urban poverty compared to rural poverty. Further, it provides an overview of the characteristics and conditions of urban poverty in Latin America from a multidimensional perspective. Lastly, it examines the social policies driven by Latin American countries with the aim to not only overcome urban poverty but also contribute to social inclusion, as well as to build strategies and effective programs in the era of sustainable development.
