Felipe Martínez Arango: his Work of Rescue and Preservation of Archeological Patrimony in the East of Cuba

This text has as objective to highlight the Dr. Felipe's work Martinez  Arango as for the rescue and  preservation of the archaeological patrimony in the oriental region of Cuba. To carry out the study one had access to great part of the materials published by Martinez Arango about the thematic one treated as well as to their archaeological collection that  integrates the funds of the Universidad of Oriente  at the present time. It was also revised the whole documentation that supports the compilation. The  stringency  with which it carried out their work and the characteristics of their book of samples make that it can be considered as exponent of the scientific collecting  in our country. Their contributions are emphasized in the field of the archaeology and the fact that its collection, constitutes unquestionable patrimony of our nation.<br />Keywords:  patrimony, archaeological patrimony, archaeological collection, scientific collecting.
