The article has studied the spacial organization of Isfahan, from the beginning of Abbasid reign to the end of Saljuq era, to recognize the role of religious attitudes in city formation. Furthermore, the effect of different religious attitudes on physical changes of the city in the three periods, i.e., Abbasids, Buyids and Saljuqs is studied, taking advantage of a historical descriptive-analytical method based on written and archeological sources.
