This article explores the relationship between biological gender and literary subgenre consisting of travel literature to discern the common features and conventions underlying the pre-text of the travel books regarding women. Examples drawn from the chronicles of Serena, Audouard, Belgiojoso, Bertrana, Sackville-West, etc.. underlie this work.
