| Summary: | Like Argentina, El Salvador and Guatemala, amongst other countries, Brazil, and more specifically Rio de Janeiro, has witnessed the mobilisation of families of victims of armed violence, in particular massacres carried out by agents of the state. Such groups, which are, to a certain extent, organised, have carried out investigation, presented complaints, and monitored the progress of police inquiries and judicial proceedings. This article provides an overview of the difficulties and perspectives of the families of the victims of armed violence in the face of the challenges presented during the course of their trajectories, both from an individual and a collective point of view. Through an analysis of one experience – the development of a project to support the families of the victims of the massacres – this article aims to discuss the nature, risks, limits, tensions and possibilities of collective action on the basis of the history of a group of around 30 women fighting for justice and reparation. |
