Summary: | An interesting phenomenon that yielding was observed in the Ti matrix composites with above 4.10vol%TiCp. To clarify the underlying nature, in-situ tensile test was performed, and results indicated that this was caused by cracking at the interface between the aggregated TiCp and Ti matrix, which is quite different from the well-accepted viewpoint. Furthermore, fracture of stronger TiCp prior to weaker TiBw was also found during in-situ tensile test, and a fracture criterion was proposed from the viewpoint of load transfer. |
