Summary:The article discusses the possibility of using optical indicators mounted on insulating construction of high voltage lines and substations, for control of insulation condition. We describe the device and operation of an optical defect indicator. It shows the feasibility indication infancy insulation defect indicator when installing the device in a stationary, fixed directly on the insulator, and as a portable device mounted on an insulating rod.
