The analysis is focused on songs related to ‘hohe Minne’, a higher form of love, ultimately providing a greater understanding of how social conducts became transgressive. In a tradition arising from socially established confrontations between distance/proximity and communication/no communication, the letter proves a particularly interesting motive, enabling the transgression of silence without truly transgressing it.
