AGRONOMIC EVALUATION OF FORAGE SORGHUM CULTIVARS IN THE SOUTHWEST OF THE STATE OF GOIÁS IN 2005

In order to evaluate the agronomic potential of forage sorghum cultivars in off season cultivation in the southwestern of the State of Goiás, experiments were carried out in Montividiu, Rio Verde and Santa Helena de Goiás. The experimental design of random blocks with four repetitions was used. The following sorghum cultivars were used: BR 700, 1F305, Volumax, VDH 422 and Nutrigrain, sown in March 05, 2005. In the harvest, the evaluated characteristics were: dry matter yield, height of plants, cycles for flowering and harvest, and percentages of leaves, stem and panicle in dry matter. The results indicated the presence of the interaction genotype vs. environment for dry matter yield, height of plants, cycles for flowering and harvest and panicle percentage in dry matter, but the differences between the cultivars in leaves and stem percentage was not influenced by environments. The cultivars that were harvested later presented higher dry matter yields.http://rbms.cnpms.embrapa.br/index.php/ojs/article/view/217/235Sorghum bicolorsilagedry matter yieldcomposition of plantmaturation
