Summary: | Background and aims: Electrophysiology study is a new method for diagnosing and treating of arrhythmia that can lead to patient’s anxiety so it reduces the procedure efficacy. Therefore purpose of this study was to assess the level of anxiety and related factors such as individual, clinical and psychological factors in these patients in patients.
Methods: This is a descriptive - analytical cross sectional study conducted on 72 patients waiting for diagnostic and therapeutic electrophysiology interventions admitted to Heshmat Educationl-therapeutic center in Rasht city. Samples were gradually selected from April to July 2013. Data was collected 3-5 hours before EPS by using two parts questionnaire including personal-clinical information and anxiety and depression scale (only anxiety part) through interview and records observation.
Results: A significant correlation was observed between gender and anxiety in samples (P≤0.001) and the mean and standard deviation of anxiety of females were significantly more than in males (P<0.03 , r=-0.255). Therefore, Anxiety decreases with aging.
Conclusion: Based on these results, the nurses should control the patient's anxiety, especially in women in younger ages in order to obtain the better results in electrophysiology. |
