In order to illustrate and reaffirm the importance and richness of the popular short story, as well as its faint borders with the myth, an Indian short story will be presented; it was chose among the 21 Indian-origin Brazilian popular short stories gathered by author Silvio Romero. A brief analysis of this short story will be made, having as main theoretical tool the theory proposed by Alan Dunces, North American, in its book The Morphology of North.
